Although Virginia had an almost bad start of the day yesterday, (I have been putting Ema with Virginia very far and in between since the week of breeding), I got another mating from her and Ema. I did not bother to go get the camera, so no photos. There was a little chasing/struggling done, but I still wouldn't consider it "rape". I was at the angle to where I seen the hemipenis insert and exit so it is a another 100% pairing (I think it the 3rd or 4th 100% pairing). They were stuck for about 1 minute or so (although that is an estimate).

Night are still very cold, but days are very warm rather than the cool night and cool days like it has been (from the way I had their cages situated).

As soon as I put Ema in Virginia's newly cleaned tub, he was automatically interested. He kept nudging her, licking her in the face to basically "test" her, and she didn't attack like she did at the end of that breeding week. He starting chasing and biting, but then my ferret started making the most noises (-.-'), so he stopped. 5 minutes later he was at it again. He was having a little trouble with getting under her tail, so I helped (reason why I seen the hemipenis insert and exit).

I'm still not breeding Xaunder this year, although I have been having second thoughts... hehe. Just kidding. I really hope something comes of it.

Thanks, I hope so, too! I decided I will be keeping one as a little reminder of the first time I bred Meraukes. I plan to do that with any different species I breed.

Yeah, January is our "supposed" coldest month (although only goes down by a degree on average).

Nighttime temperatures went from the 80's down to about low 60's, which is a big difference considering, but daytime temperatures went from high 90's to mid 80's, which is not that different. The way I had them housed on the patio made it where they could only have artificial heat, rather than the sun as a heating element, but now they get daily UV exposure and heat.. and they LOVE it! Lol.

After reading your response, I would suggest that you really don't yet.

There is no reason to judge my judgment on whether or not how I think she is a female. I am the only one that has seen her in person, and Susann has seen her on webcam. That's it. If the male was horny enough to mount a male, he would have mounted with the other confirmed males, not fight with them.

Her body characteristics are all obvious female characteristics, behavioral sexing all came out to be female, and she lived with one of my most aggressive male (to only other males) for 2-3 months with no fighting, and she lived with her brother until around May since birth. If she were male, she would have been swelled like the rest of the males down that area, but no. And I watch my skinks 24/7, I keep them outside where I can see them, but they can't see me. That is how I seen all my males drop plugs. Hmmmmm.. must be male, right?

Yeah, no reason to judge your judgement. It will be a collosal waste of time.

Hey guys, I put Virginia with Ema again today, Ema starting trying to mount her right away, but Virignia was absolutely freaking out. It got to the point Ema actually CAPSIZED her! I have it on video. I'm thinking about posting it, not sure though.. I will have to mute it.

Should I let it continue even though Virginia doesn't seem to want to? Let nature take its course?

He still looks very keen,you think thats rough u should see my big northern males,i cant vouch for non aussies but with aussie ones if theres still interest there still good to go,when my females are done most males just stop,onea that dont the females will bite at them before they have a crack

Your guy looks raring to go and female was in run away mode,thats pretty normal behaviour for them when theres space about,eg check my blotch vid on u tube

Okay, thanks for the comment Richard. He seemed really bummed that I separated them, so I will put them together again, and hopefully he won't tip her over! What is odd, he didn't even "test" her like he usually does. He first looked at his new surroundings, then went straight after her!

Dakota,one of mu males often grabs female out of my hand before shes touched the ground,when they know a lass is cycling theu often dont bother testing,but somedays they take there time,others there in a rush,shes a big girl compared to male so makes his job harder,my big male northerns are alot bigger than the females,though a couple of young males that are smaller dont seem to have any issues

I guess best thing is keep trying,if males getting rough just intervene and retry,some males stiff around abit before trying to insert,especiallu with females that dont submit straight away or males arent happy with where they have grabbed

I tried again, and he skipped the testing again. This time they were chasing each other ALL over the patio.. it was quite the chase! I tried to corner them, but that didn't stop Monster Virginia. At first I put them in a tub with an old shirt so he can get good traction, but he seemed more scared with that, so I put them back out. He bit her arm, so I had to intervene there, but other than that, I didn't.

I think she is getting tired of him, since she opened her mouth at the very end, so I will wait a bit so she can "forget" about him. I think I'm going to introduce them in my closet, where there is carpet for him to grip, instead of him sliding like he has been.

I got a photo of him biting, I'll post in a second.
