Hello everyone, I am a breeder from China. My skink has a serious skin disease. I couldn't find a good solution in the Chinese community, so I came to ask you for advice.
My skink was bought in June 2024. It weighed 36g at the time. It is in eastern Queensland. Now it weighs 350g.
Less than a month after it came home, after the first molt, we found that some scales on his tail were abnormal. I thought it was normal and didn't care.
After that, every time it molted, the wound at this position would be larger than before, and because there was no scale covering it, the surface of the wound would continue to fester, preventing the scales from growing.
I visited the veterinarian, who thought it might be a fungal infection and prescribed me some antiseptic spray and growth-promoting drugs.
I continued to use these drugs for 2 months. Although the wound did not deteriorate significantly, it did not improve. The last picture was the result after molting yesterday.
His mental state has always been good, but he is a little timid, and there is nothing abnormal about eating and feces.
Please help, thank you very much

Thanks for sharing—sorry to hear about your skink. It’s good that his appetite and energy are normal. Since the wound isn't healing despite treatment, it may need a more targeted approach. While typically for human skin, some reptile owners use gentle products like a dark spot correcting glow serum (with safe, soothing ingredients) to support skin repair—but always consult a reptile vet before applying anything new. You might also ask about a biopsy to confirm if it's truly fungal or something else. Wishing your skink a smooth recovery!
