Whats the best skink for a beginner?

Iv been wanting a skink for a few years done lots of research but i want more opinions, whats the best beginner skink? I am in the US.

Usually the Northern is the best for beginners. However, if you do your research and make sure you understand the care. I also absolutely love the Merukes.

I'll say Northerns, first because they are always captive bred and never imported. Indonesian species, although great pets, are almost all imports and many come into this country with pre existing ailments from shipping, warehousing, etc. and can be an absolute nightmare at the vet.
