Blue tongue skink ate a bone

Postby LetMeOut » Sun Feb 02, 2025 7:20 pm

:helpme:

Hey there, I'm a new BTS owner. I've got 2 northerns and I take them out into the garden each day to give them more space to roam and take in natural sunlight. About 2 days ago one of them ate a fragment or bone found in the garden. Didn't really have time to grab it out the mouth. I've got an image below to approximate what it looked like. I've since stopped feeding the lizard and he is still acting normal.

What's the best way for me to ensure that bone gets properly digested? Should I be concerned about impaction? When should I start to worry ?

Is stopping feeding the right play here?

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Being they forage roadkill in the wild this shouldn't be an issue. I would continue feeding as normal and monitoring fecals.

I agree with the other commenter,
You should definitely keep a closer eye then normal on your skink but don’t worry to much:)
