Hi, I have an Indonesian bluetongue skink, he is 9 months old, 44cm and 313g. The problem is that in the last two weeks, he suddenly started not eating. He usually eats a mixture of dog food and vegetables, but two weeks ago, he suddenly started refusing food. Even if he hasn't eaten for days, he will only take one or two bites and turn his head away. He acts like he wants to be let out when I get close to him, and when I let him outside, he roams around actively.
His cage is 120cm*45cm*60cm, with a cool zone of 27-28°C(80.6~82.4°F) and a hot zone of 31~35°C(87.8~95°F). I keep it at 30.5°C(86.9°F) with a thermostat. I think it's a male, because I've been finding sperm recently.
I can't figure out what the problem is, should I take him to the vet? How long can a bluetongue skink go without food? I'm so worried because it's my first bluetongue skink, and some people say my bluetongue skink won't eat because he's in heat. Can a 9 month old bluetongue go into heat? Please help me T.T

Sorry to hear about your skinks troubles. It could be the time of year. Right now skinks have breeding on the mind. I have known several skinks stop eating during this time. If he loses weight or is acting funny in any other way, I would get him vet checked.

Many male skinks can get preoccupied with mating and don't eat as much. As long as he's still active and not losing weight, he's probably okay for now. But if he goes much longer without eating or seems lethargic, a vet check wouldn't be a bad idea just to be safe.
