Hello! After 3 years of wanting a blue tongue skink, I finally have one! I recently purchased a Tanimbar BTS roughly three weeks ago. However, I have a few questions that I'm curious about.
1. Is surface temperature for the basking spot at 115 Fahrenheit okay?
2. He spends most of the day (if not all) buried under the substrate. I've read more about this and people say it's normal for a new bluey, so I'm ok with this. When I have gotten him out, he eats perfectly.
3. What is the optimal humidity level for a Tanimbar BTS? I've seen different answers all over the net and I'm so confused. Currently mine ranges from 56% to 85%.
Also, the seller did mention that Tanimbars can be a little bit more defensive. Mine has never attempted to bite, though he'll hiss when I pick him up, but after being out of his cage for a bit he becomes totally tame and chill. He's also extremely skittish in his cage; if he's out and hears me opening the door to it, he'll dart into his hide super fast. I don't want him to be scared of me!
