Indo mouth foaming?

Postby CircusCandi12 » Thu Jun 08, 2023 10:52 am

My 3 yr old Indo bluey, Stryker, gave me a scare this morning when I picked him up to look at his scales since he's shedding and has a history of getting stuck shed. On my way carrying him to the front room, he started drooling heavily with foam and thick saliva strings coming down. He has NEVER done this. He just got over a throat infection after an accident with some live insects. I was told they could do this out of excitement or other things but my immediate fear was a R.I.

He hasn't done it again since and didn't have discharge from the eyes and nose... But Stryker has never expressed excitement before except when I'd release mealworms for him to chase. But that isn't what happened. He just got water, I picked him up, and he gurgled and started drooling. Did I pick him up too quickly after his drink? :( I try to be gentle with him always.

More than likely handling too soon after drinking. After drinking or eating, I'd leave them alone for at least a half hour.

Hopefully, it was just from handling to soon after his drink.
