Can skinks musk??

Postby Y33T » Mon Sep 05, 2022 1:43 am

So recently my 2 skinks were fighting when I let them out together. None are injured but I noticed Bajo started emitting this strange bitter smell, he always had a smell but it got worse after the brawl. And today I had him out by himself, he approached my other skink’s cage and the smell got stronger the second they see eachother.

Update: I let Kirra out and after a while he also started to give off a similar strong smell when Hestu approached him. I let Hestu smell his scent off my hand and he became extremely flighty all of a sudden.

More than likely two males, in which case they should not be allowed anywhere near eachother. Besides the possibility of severe injury it will also cause extreme stress. I do not even allow my males to see eachother.

They seem ok when both are in their enclosures since and they face eachother, just when they’re very close when they get iffy. Ig that confirms I got 2 males and my youngest is female bc he waves his tail which you said is a female thing right?

I have observed tail waving in both sexes, more prevalent in females when courting/breeding.
