Some questions

Postby Darkgoddess » Thu Jul 07, 2022 7:57 pm

So i have a eastern bluey and lately she wont eat anything, i have made sure her cage is nice and warm, i offer her a variety of foods even the one dog food brand she likes and she wont touch any of it :( is there anything i can do to help her start eating again?

Also shes been super energetic since we moved houses, before she used to sit on my sholder and watch tv or just snuggle with me but now she wants to explore everywhere, which would be fine but twice i have lost her in the blankets on my bed (little blanket monster) i tried setting up a play pen for her in a big tub but she just keeps escaping it and i had a harness on her to let her explore outside but she kept slipping out of it. Is there some way to let her explore without risking loosing her? any play pen suggestions ect that might work?

First, how old? Are you sure it's a female? When my males go into season they're all over the place and do not eat for months. I'm not familiar with your breeding seasons over there, so unsure if this could be the issue if it's male.
Reptiles do not like change, could even be stress from recent relocation. Different sights and smells can confuse them until they get used to things.
This is about all I can think of, perhaps others from your area will have input.
I'll just mention putting a harness on a bts is like putting one on a snake. Ineffective, and could even be dangerous. Reptiles do not have the ability to reason, and in a struggle to get out of confinement they could seriously injure themselves.

I also have an Eastern Blue Tongue skink and due to it being winter here in Australia even if I keep my heat lights on my blue tongue will either go into brumation and sleep for a few months or stop eating through the winter. I don’t think it would be anything to worry about but If your skink is awake and active keep offering food and just monitor there weight/condition. It’s normal this time of year for them to slow down and not eat. Alternatively you could drop your tempts down and let your bluey go into brumation.
hard work never killed anybody, but why take that chance..
