Blue Tongue Skink Stunted Growth

Postby KingCaramel » Tue May 31, 2022 7:49 pm

My Northern Blue Tongue Skink (Caramel) is 2 years old now and is only 14 inches long! I can't tell if he is short or unhealthy. I really need help to know how to fix it if he is unhealthy and I need to know if he still has a chance to reach a healthy size.

He might have a huge growth spout coming like one of mine did, when my boy was 2 he was very small, probably about 14-16inches for a while, I used to assume he’s stunted too until one day he is suddenly 21inches and still growing apparently. He’s almost 7 and very close to 23 inches now.

I was also wondering if the dip in his tail is a problem of him not being fed. I have been feeding him pretty frequently to help him and nothing much has changed.

ooh, looks like he has MBD so unfortunately he’s unhealthy, was he like this before you brought him home or did it appear later?

Thank you for that information, without that I would've not found out. I'm trying to get him into the vet. Do you know any way I could help him with this disease.

Honestly, I should have been more prepared before getting a Bluey.

I'm so glad you came and asked and will get to a vet. MBD is a horrible disease, but now you can at least get it treated and hopefully your skink can still live a healthy, happy life.
