Blueys Arm Is Swollen But Moving Perfect

Postby Mxlak » Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:46 am

So my adult skink named Blue, about 18” long recently had a fall out of his enclosure. He usually sticks his head off the edge whenever im in there misting or moving a couple things around, and usually he is fine but this time he got a little too confident and started walking along the edge when I wasnt looking and ended up taking a fall off an about a 3-3.5ft drop onto hard wood. Im a little freaked out at the fact that he fell on my watch and its been beating me up knowing if anything is wrong with him or something! Ive had him for over a year and he seems to be very comfortable with me, so I dont think he fell from being spooked out or anything, he just was testing his limits by the edge and it ended up working against his favor

His specific front left leg is a little swollen compared to the normal size of his front right leg, but it seems as he is moving on it perfectly fine. Its been a couple days since the fall and ive been watching him closely. He is still active, and climbing as normal, havent tried feeding yet but I will today. He doesnt seem to favor any limbs or anything either, its as if he is moving perfectly fine the arm just looks like double the size of the opposite limb

After the fall and I put him back into his enclosure he sat in the same spot for a couple minutes and then proceeded to go into his hide and stay there the rest of the night. But the next morning he was out and active around the same times as usual and it seemed like nothing even happened, except the obvious swollen front leg that I ended up noticing.

I dont know if its exactly fractured or broken or if anything just swollen because he is still using it perfectly and he doesnt seem to keep it to his body or not use it at all like Ive read in other peoples posts on here where their blueys will just completely not use one limb or keep it close to their body, but this is not the case.

Please if anyone can give me a little insight on what could be wrong or if there is any immediate vet visits I should make for the future! Please any help is greatly appreciated!

Ive added a couple attachment poctures of his limbs, and the picture of him sheeding by his leg is the only one I could find of his leg isolated before the accident , so that is how his leg normally looked before this happened! And the last picture is just a cute one I found that some of you bluey lovers may like to see
