We live in South East Queensland on a suburban block with neighbours on all sides. Most have dogs, except for us.
Over the last few months we have noticed a colony of six blue tongues assemble on our block, all shapes and sizes, but appearing to rotate into a conveyor belt mat under our back patio BBQ.
Today, for instance we have had two distinctly different blueys emerge from under the matting to be fed.
These two might disappear for a week or two and then return to the Airbnb for separate feeding.
For those about to jump on me for feeding them ( prime beef mince) we have saved then from dogs, idiot drivers who take delight in running them over, and taught our butcher birds and magpies to co-exist with them, including the young.
Two of the blueys will nudge our toes to let us know when they would like to be fed. They are family and an absolute delight.
Has anyone seen similar behaviour? We have in no way attempted to tame or handle them, we only respond to their behaviour.
