Hello,
I have found a BTS near my house. I found it on a driveway shedding. I have had some little skinks in the past so I know a bit about skinks. This BTS was perfectly fine with us picking it up and bringing it back to our house for a better look. The BTS doesn't seem to look very well. Like I said we were able to pick it up without it running away. I don't know what to do and I need help ASAP.

Re: BTS FOUND. NEED URGENT HELP
Hi there, I see that you are in Australia. I don't remember exactly the rules there, but I would say take it to a wildlife/zoo vet to have it checked out. Or an exotic vet. Can you post pictures so we can identify the species?

Re: BTS FOUND. NEED URGENT HELP
It's a definite blue tongue. Been keeping an eye on her and seems to be getting better. I now think that she is just lethargic from shedding. Placed her in a safe place and checking on her frequently.

I can't seem to take photos. But found out he is a blotched blue tongue lizard.

Okay, I would double check the regulations are in regards to finding a skink in your country. Glad it is doing better.

You guys over there are sooooo lucky....if that wandered into my backyard I'd take a week off just to stare at him. Wishing him good health and a happy life.

Ditto Susan, but I thought I remember somewhere reading that it is illegal to keep wild-caught skinks. I hope I am wrong. Good luck!

You just need permits. Just like here, if you want to do it the right way. When I was a kid and caught garter snakes the critter cops never arrested me.

You need to contact WIRES and fill in a rescue form. They’re based in NSW but have interstate contacts.

BTS now back in the wild. Put him somewhere in our backyard so we can keep an eye on him. Seems to be doing ok.
