Best substrate for Halmahera

Postby Lash » Sat Oct 16, 2021 6:13 am

Hi there everyone,

I have a young Halmahera BTS and looking to see what folks are using for substrate.

Also what humidity are you keeping the viv at?

There seems to be differing views.

Many thanks

A mix of Eco Earth, top soil, and sphagnum moss is what I use for Indonesians. Pouring water into the substrate and mixing it to keep all levels of the substrate damp will usually yield a high humidity level into the 90% level. For a Halmahera, the humidity is okay to dip to the 70% levels during the day and it should increase back up to 90%+ overnight after any heat lamps are turned off.
