New handling updates and cute pictures!

Postby rixusaku » Mon Jan 25, 2021 2:49 pm

It's been almost 2.5 weeks since I got Noodle. I started holding him toward the end of last week since he didn't get huffy with me petting him that week. He still hasn't gotten huffy with me and doesnt look like he wants to be put down once picked up. Actually, he gets very curious about everything when I pick him up and take him out of his tank. For right now I'm staying close to the tank and letting him walk around my arms and lap while I sit in a chair.

He seemed to do very well this handling session. He was looking around everywhere, climbing up my arms, burrowing in the hood of my sweater, and looking at the floor all around my legs. Usually he sort of stays where he is on my arm and only sort of looked around. It looked like he wanted to explore the carpet but that room isn't exactly lizard proof in terms of him getting under things that would be difficult for me to get him out of, so I'll wait until later to do supervised exploring sessions.

I'm just really glad he doesnt seem timid of me anymore and he seems to really like it when I pet him. He closes his eyes and relaxes right up. He also seems to be want to be let back out again when I put him back because he comes back to the door and looks at me lol.

He even let me check his ears and toes for any residual shed and everything looks good. He had two scales on his head left to get rid of and since the pictures one of them has already fallen off, so he just has the one left. I'm very, very, glad he seems to have really good sheds because I was really worried about what I was going to do if any got stuck on him. I was also really worried about whether or not he would lose any toes while in my care, but everything looks fantastic so far. His next shed will be more telling on whether or not my setup is actually good for him though.

They really are! I showed a picture of him to my sister earlier today which was the first good full length picture I took of him (the last picture above) and she told me "he's actually a snake with legs." Now she knows why I named him Noodle, hehe

I'm new to here and very excited, My name is Julie and we live in Lincoln, NE. I got my Skink when she was about 4 months old and in June she will be 2 years old. We absolutely love her so much. So let me introduce our beautiful baby girl Sydney. She is 20 inches long, which doing my research is a little longer then average lol.
