Handling

Postby ThatOneReptileNoob » Wed Dec 23, 2020 1:40 pm

How much is too much? CAN there be a ‘too much’ for a skink that doesn’t mind handling? Or is there a certain amount of time you can handle, and if you keep going past that it will get sick (since it’s out of its habitat)? I mean this specifically relating to a northern. Basically, if a northern blue tongue skink is out of its enclosure for an extended period of time (not all day) is that dangerous? If so, how long CAN I handle for?

So ideally you don't want your skink being out to long. Most houses have a normal temp sent around 70 degrees. Your skinks enclosure is around 100, so being out of the heat eventually could cause issues. I usually give my guys about 1-2 hours of out of the enclosure time. It all just depends on the skink and the temperature of the room or spot you are handling.

Thanks! I probably won’t have more than that (if I even have that) to handle it anyway. :)
