Breeding Advice Needed

Postby Nakita22 » Sun Aug 23, 2020 8:07 pm

Hey guys :) I have a pair of north queensland eastern blueys. I definitely have a male and I'm pretty sure I have a female. I've had her for years and she's never dropped sperm plugs, a male has also attempted to mate with her in the past.  I've never bred blueys before I really want to give it a go this season.

Heres some back story on their brumation. My pair both came out of brumation a week ago. I moved their tanks into my walk in closet where I could leave the window open so it got nice and cold for them, their lights and heat were turned off. They were down for about two months.

I've moved their tanks back into my room so they have light but not heat yet. I have been introducing them everyday since they woke up. My male has dropped sperm plugs twice in the past week. He is interested in breeding, he follows her and climbs on top of her but has not attempted to bite her. She doesn't seem interested although she does not run away or display any aggressive behavior.

I'm thinking I might have taken her out of brumation too early. I took them both out as they were beginning to move more than they had been. I also keep one of my Vic easterns outside, he woke up the same weekend as this pair did (last weekend).

Should I turn their heat back on?
And should I start offering food?
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated :)

I have attached a picture of them. Hopefully it worked! Male is on the right, female is on the left
