Ugh so here I am again asking a question that I should know the answer to by now, seeing as that my baby is at least a year and a few months old.
So I know when they’re under 6-8 months you can feed them cat food as their protein. My northern BTS LOVESSSSSS the core pate turkey and duck! Loves it! So much so, that I still feed it to him from time to time now even though he really should be moving on to just dog food(from what I’ve read and been told)
He’s very picky with dog food. I’ve tried soooo many different grain free dog foods that they have at my local unleashed by petco but it’s a lot smaller than a regular petco or petsmart so there isn’t much of an option.
Especially when it comes to cans that are really small and cheap!
The thing is, I know people say you can freeze the food in meals and feed it to them when convenient but my little dude WILL NOT eat anything that isn’t fresh from a new opened can! ... so I won’t buy the big regular cans because it’s a huge waste of money and food. Even the small cans! He eats maybe like a spoonful of the can and that’s it! I’ve been returning them the next day saying he didn’t like it so save money but I feel weird doing that every single time. I feel like they’ll catch on and not let me return anything anymore lol anyway!
So I’m asking, does anyone else have a picky skink and if so what are some great dog food options that might remind him of the core pate turkey and duck cat food?
I’m about to go to the store for him now, I’m gonna try to grab a few options and return whatever he doesn’t like. Since it’s walking distance. But it’s still just super annoying not having many options at the moment and trying to find the right fit of food he likes. Plus I know he needs to have variety! And he’s just so *darn picky! Ugh... so yeah any other advice you can give on picky skinks would be amazing!

Does he go on "food strikes"? Where he does not eat? So, I'm using my husky as a reference...but he sometimes won't eat for days because he's picky but then gets hungry enough that he decides it's good enough lol.
Someone correct me if it doesn't apply to bts

This time of year my group eats practically nothing, so it really won't matter what you offer. Not a good time of year for food testing. Come springtime they'll eat everything in sight.

If you want to offer only cat food, just mix in plenty of vege. Should really be fine! Just all about keeping a balance
