My BTS northern is staying under

For the past weeks my BTS decided the ground is his spot i barely see him. I cleaned out his cage around that time and im curious if that made him panic. I put food in his cage and i see he nibbles on it when i'm not around the cage. When i clean i remove a couple of decor because he has gotten big enough that it looks cluttered in his cage when he is moving around. Should i put back the decor to help him feel secure.

bump its been another week and he still isnt coming out much and now i am sure he isnt eating? he just stays in one section unground in his tank

What're your temperatures like? Without the decor, how's his basking spot? Maybe he doesn't like the de-cluttered setup and feels like he can't comfortably bask.

I'd definitely leave the decor in there for him to hide. They appreciate places to hide and feel secure. You could try swapping the decor for larger pieces that are better suited for a larger skink to hide under. Mine get a couple large hides that make it easy for them to climb up toward the basking light and that's about it.

They also can tend to bury themselves when they're going into shed and seeking higher humidity. When's the last time your guy shed?
