Feeding frequency question

I have had my boy for a week. He is approximately 6 years old. His former owner apparently fed him cat food every evening, but everything I have read has said to feed an adult every 2 or 3 days. He seems to be hungry and eats every time and everything I feed him. Do I need to adjust his feedings? Is there an easy way to do that since he is used to eating every day?

Twice a week is fine, and evening is not a good time. I'd make the switch over to a good quality dog food mixed with vegetables (they love peas and carrots). Cat food is fine for babies as it has a higher protein content, but I refrain from feeding to adults. Most of my babies no longer like it after a few months. Get him used to a morning feeding also, digestion problems can occur if fed too late. If he won't switch over right away, give it time, I've never known a healthy skink to starve itself.

I already give him fruits and vegetables. He loves everything. I have to work early in the morning, so it's not really easy to feed him early. Plus, I don't have his "daytime" set that early. I can switch to afternoon feedings instead of evenings. Won't it be a hard transition from eating every day for 6 years to less? I feel like I'll be starving him. I mean, he loves eating and gets so excited when I feed him. Do you give any treats in between meals?

I leave dry food in all their cages at all times. A six year old will by no means starve. I just wouldn't feed his regular meals in evenings if his heat will go off soon.
