My skink won't eat help :^(

My skink won't eat much and sleeps through most of the day. He's about 5 years old now, and I got him when he was 3 so it can't be because he's young. I don't think he's lethargic, because he climbs around his tank on some cardboard boxes I put in and digs in the substrate often under them, as well as basking. He's not wheezing or anything and The only strange thing is that he only really does it at night instead of during the day, and he tends to sleep more during the day too for some reason. He's drinking fine, and I've tried giving him eggs, organic baby food, fruit he likes like bananas or raspberries, chicken hearts (which he used to really enjoy), and higher quality dog food that he didn't even touch. This has been going on for a while now, but because it was winter and I assumed it was hibernation but I'm not sure now. It's getting warmer and he still doesn't want to eat more than a bite of food! Right now I'm putting some herbivore mix stuff in his tank, I make sure there isn't any substrate in it and change it but I've still only seen him eat it once. Does anyone know what I can do to get him to eat? Is he sick with something?

I have one that recently came out of brumation but still will not eat. I have seen this before. If his/her weight is good I wouldn't worry quite yet. It's still winter in their eyes. One of my breeder males is not eating yet either even though he has finished up his season. Believe it or not, weather conditions outside affect their moods even though nothing changes in their cages, and here in the northeast the weather has been, well, don't want to use the word I think of it! Could you post a picture so we can check him out?

Here's some pictures I took of him today. He doesn't like being touched much and has been moving away whenever I get near him so it's hard to get a picture of him that shows his whole body clearly, but I hope these are good enough

Check your temperatures and the UV globe or tube (might be too old and no longer producing sufficient UVA & UVB).

I agree with both responses, but he does look a little thin to me and also like he may be about to shed. What do you think splashy? If he is about to shed that could also explain the moodiness and not wanting to eat.

Looks thin to me too. I've got a few that eat right through shedding time and a few that don't want anything to do with me or food at that time, but it is usually consistent behavior with each skink. Being he is five years old, have you ever noticed this before? Personally I do not like that type substrate as it is too dry. What type of skink was he sold to you as? He actually looks like a Northern/Merauke cross. Which, by the way is probably not a great idea for hybridization (no hybridization is good) as both species require totally different care. He also looks like he has some dark scales on his head possibly left over from an old shed? And as King said, keep a close eye on your temps. It sounds like seasonal behavior to me but if this is just starting at his age perhaps a vet check is in order.

He does look a little thin BUT his hip bones are not showing and his tail is nice and fat.

Doesn't look 'sick' to me.
