Young BTS gave birth to undeveloped young *GRAPHC PIX*

We recently bought our first blue tongue skink, were told she was in the 6-9 month range. Recently she seemed like she was constipated, but was pooping fine. Kept pushing her legs back and pushing as if she were trying to go to the bathroom. Now i realize why, yesterday I found a very small undeveloped sack in her cage. I couldn't find anything on the internet about this, and am not really sure what to do. Should we take her to the vet? She is still ocasionally pushing so it seems she has more in her. Will she most likely pass these with time? It also seems likely that her age is off a bit based on when they breed, is it even possible for this to happen to one so young? Appetite and energy have all been very normal. Thanks for any input.

Looks like your skink had the lizard equivalent of a miscarriage.

I don't know much about this in lizards, but with humans, it is very important to get medical care, especially if the body has not passed all of the nonviable fetal tissue. (AKA, undeveloped lizard babies, in this case.) Leaving the nonviable tissue in the uterus opens up the uterus-bearer to all sorts of nasty infections and serious health complications.

Your vet may also be able to do some tests to rule out a few possible causes for the babies to have been undeveloped.

Your skink was probably a recent import that came in gravid, and the stress involved may have caused this. Can you post a picture of her? If she is an Indonesian type this is probably the case. A vet check is in order to make sure everything is out, and to rule out any parasites or infection. Good luck with everything!
