i made a post about my shingleback skink i'm getting soon,but i didn't get any replies, so does any one know any aussies or knowledgeable people who are likely to reply to a pm about outdoor ecnlosures/shinglebacks. i really need some help as i'm getting him soon. Thanks

Scotts1au is the guy I recall having extensive knowledge on shinglebacks. I'd give him a try if he still visits these forums. You might try this site's Facebook page, too.

This place was a lot more active back when I got my Northern in 2013. I took a break from here and came back not too long ago and it seems quite baron anymore. I haven't seen the same members coming around anymore. I started a thread in the Off Topic forum asking where everyone is at because I noticed the most of the regulars aren't posting anymore. Someone mentioned this site having a Facebook page and it sees more activity than here. I'm not a huge fan of FB. I like discussion forums better.

Yeah i dont have facebook, and enjoy forums too, looking back at some old posts from a few years back it seems llike this site was just as chokkas and active as beardeddragon.org is now, ill try message him thanks for the help, is there any other blue tongue forums?

Try gosford reptile park , I asked their lizard keeper questions when I had Lucky (my rescued water skink) and when I acquired George and Mildred my current two EBTS as babies , seems the breeder told me a lot of rubbish advise (ie no UVB needed for them, cheap slopy cat and dog food is fine , and ok to give them pinkies and mice the once a month etc ). . I know for a fact GRP have some shinglebacks as I've seen them.

If you have an elder sibling or cousin at uni , they might be able top get it on loan inter-university library loan , uni libraries are fabulous and have access to books from uni libraries all over the planet.

Keeping 2 or 3 or 4 mixed shinglebacks in an outdoor pit-aviary should be a breeze for you since you've seen them in the wild in your neighbourhood , just a matter of making them secure and providing a good habitat for them.

yeah King, i already messaged gosford, they never replied... its me chameleon7 from beardie.org if you haven't realised. i picked up my shingle today and he is absolutely lovely, got a temporary tank set up with oaten hay and marri woodchips. outdoor enclosure is almost ready, gonna have a flood light for the winter under the undercover side for heat, will turn it on for a few hours a day if it's real cold,it's pretty well water proof under the undercover side. Looking forward to getting him some real sun in the summer! picked up some super worms and plan to breed snails. you dont need to keep the supers in the fridge or anything do you?

You buy him/her from a breeder or a petshop ? Photos ... must see him/her .... Trying to convince my wife to get me one or two as bubs for my birthday or for Fathers' Day....

Give them a bit to reply .... they are busy people.

Supers : into a 4L Décor Tellfresh tub (I make holes in the lid for ventilation) and have my supers on the same kind of bedding as my mealworms (a mix or Woolies homebrand oatbran and homebrand wheetbran with some chunks of carrot and some bukchoi whites & any dead crickets thrown in for them to eat). I keep at room temp and last for months.

Careful with the woodchips. My BTS on a mix of bluegum leaf-litter and course Kritters Krumble .... I suspect your new baby will be good on that too.

I'm not so sure supers are good choice for a feeder for him as baby .... silkworms will be much better.

Got him for $99! from The reptile specialist shop called reptile trader who was doing an expo , they sold about 11 bobtails in about 4 hours!! hes full grown, hes a rugosa rugosa so a bit diff from the ones you would get (you would get rugosa asper) planning on feedin a mix of supers, snails, crickets, veg and veta farm lizard pellets, I'll try get pics tomoz, he is sound asleep in his hide right now, I made a little movie about the two expos I went to in Perth today, ill put them on beardie.org asap saw some amazing animals, but my fav being the goldfields shinglebacks for $300 Ill contact the breeders for you tomoz

Add some fruit juice to the Vetafarm Lizard Pellets to make them more palatable and let them soften in it, otherwise he wont touch them, I actually use a mixture of Repcal Juvenile Beardie Pellets and the VetaFarm Pellets (1:1 mix) and soak in water and then mix with veg ((sweet potato + carrot (both grated) + raw peas and chopped raw beans + choi all food processed) and my BTs like the mix).

I'll handle locating a local breeder (NSW) if I can talk my wife around. If she agrees I'll be looking for 2 or 3 mixed babies (not more than 2 months old, rather than an adult).
