Hi all,
I have owned my blue tongue Alfred for around 5 months now and everything seemed to be normal. I provided him with heat, UVB, food, water, hiding, space, etc. Usually when I went to pick him up he would be startled but after a few pats he was easily taken out of his tank. Lately he has been acting weird and has been running up to my hand when I'm adding food or moving his stuff over. This morning he started to hiss and puff up at me. The funny thing was I wasn't going to grab him and I had only opened the tank which somehow ignited him to try and bite my hand. Alfred is getting bigger and I have never seen this behaviour from him before. What do I do? I really don't want to give him up but I don't want to have a one hour standoff to hold my pet
P.S I don't know if Alfred is a male but it seems very likely

Re: Eastern Blue Tongue Very Aggresive
I have a skink aorund your age too.. Sometimes my bluey will also huff if i wake her up or disturb her but other than that it is alright. Please do differentiate that hissing is a display of tongue and ready to bite (I never encounter this with my bluey) and it is best to leave him if he does this (hopefully not) are you by any chance keeping a multiple BTS? cause scent of the other bluey may cause this. Do a regular interaction with your skink if possible twice a day so he could tame down. Hopefully this might help you and i too still a beginner so feel free to correct me about things you think is right! Goodluck

been a very long time since my two were that age , checked my records , yep I keep detailed behavior records for all my gang ... I think you have a hormonal teenager .... they just go through a phase and start becoming territorial and grumpy sometimes .... none of mine got so huffy .... I think letting them have time to explore a safe area each day they may burn off some of that pent up angst up .
Both mine a super mellow and love being petted and having cuddles .
