What kind of blue to his is this?
I purchased a blue tongue at a reptile expo today and the breeder said be was imported from Indonesia but I wanted to be sure he was a indo. What kind is he?

You have a Merauke (Tiliqua gigas evanescens), which is a subspecies of the Indonesian (Tiliqua gigas gigas). Refreshing that someone was honest about it being an import rather than the usual lies about getting it from a domestic breeder...
Breeder and keeper of Meraukes from 2010 to 2022.

I was wrong in the original post, he said he was a import from Europe not indonesia, but he was a Indonesian skink. He said they need slightly higher humidity around 50 or 60 so I wanted to make sure it was actually indo first before raising it to high.

Thank you for your reply Susann. I had been planning on getting a blue tongue skink for a while and when I heard about a local expo about a month ago I got exited and bought a bunch of skink stuff. I was planning to get a northern at the expo because most of my research had been based specifically on them but the expo had only 2 blue tongues and this guy was the last one. The breeder had told me that they are identical to northern other than the fact they need higher humidity so I decided to buy him anyway. Seems healthy other than the fact he is very skittish and has been sneezing a bit.

Exactly my thought too Susann!Susann wrote: Refreshing that someone was honest about it being an import rather than the usual lies about getting it from a domestic breeder...
Yes it is right that they do need higher humidity, so switch the aspen substrate to something more moisture happy and add a humid hide. You can read about these things in the FAQs and read up about Meraukes in the species care sheets.Hookster1021 wrote:The breeder had told me that they are identical to northern other than the fact they need higher humidity so I decided to buy him anyway.
