Rescued Skink, sickly but getting better,

Hello Everyone!
A few weeks ago I came across a BTS for free in Craigslist and having and the necessary equipment I decided to adopt him. Previous owner couldn't afford the vet bills and the poor lizard was sickly :/ I've taken him to the vet and after taking anti parasite treatment he is eating and drinking and gaining some weight. His stools look healthy and his temperament is improving. My only concern is that he has bad shedding problems, I am giving him pretty much daily soaks but I am still worried. He has no toes in the front legs But he climbs, digs, and walks as if nothing was wrong. Humidity in his cage seems well, so is temperature.

He is on an upwards trend, but I can't help but worry that I'm doing things wrong.

Is there anything I can do to help him gain weight and shed better?
Daily soaks and high protein meals are what I'm giving him so far, along with vegetables from the OK list.

Indonesian, housed in a 40 gallon breeder tank.
He has around 3 to 4 inches of forest floor bedding, he was on carefresh for a bit but I found it too dehydrating, I struggled to keep humidity up for shedding. The humidity is around 45-47% and the Temp on the hot side is 87-95 F, cool side 70- 75 F

Last meal was Spaghetti Squash and Ground turkey with a small sprinkle of calcium powder and some canned mealworms.

Can you provide more information on what type of skink, enclosure size, temps, etc. That will help us provide you with better information on his care. Also pictures would be great. Thanks for rescuing him

The only things I would change are (1) raise the humidity to around 60-70%, (2) raise your cool end temps by about 5 degrees, and (3) add some cooked lean ground beef into his diet.

Your humidity is quite low, which would be making his shedding more difficult, since he is a more tropical species. Raising it should pretty much sort that problem out. If yours is a screen top enclosure, place some foil or a towel over about 1/2 to 2/3 of the lid (whatever space isn't taken by the lights) to lock in moisture. Mist the tank at least 1-2 times a day and give him a nice, big water bowl. Raising the temperature slightly will also help humidity. The recommendation for these guys is a basking spot of 96F and a cool end of 80F.

As for food, don't be scared of lean beef. I know it's somewhat disputed, but as long as the fat content isn't super high, he'll be fine, and it'll really help him put on a little weight. I give my growing guy beef every other meal. You could also use high-quality canned dog food made with beef. I've never tried, but plenty of people have with great success!

Looks like Laceflower responded like I was going to. The only other thing I would add is don't forget the veggies. Dark leafy greens especially. Chop them up and mix with meats and other veggies. Remember 50% meat, 40% veggies, and 10% fruit. Good luck
