Really still baby Blue Tongue, Playing Dead?

Hi!

I got my baby blue tongue skink a little over 2 weeks ago, and she is five weeks old. She has settled in quite well, except I'm a little worried because whenever someone moves quickly towards her she looks really panicked and closes her eyes, as if she were sleeping. She also does this whenever someone she doesn't really know picks her up, she will go very rigid and close her eyes.
Is this her playing dead because she is frightened? Or is she actually just resting?

That's a sign of stress. Shutting her eyes doesn't mean she's relaxed. She's basically overwhelmed by stress that she's shutting down. Since she is so young keep interaction to a minimum till she gets used to her surroundings. Babies perceive everything as a threat since they are easy targets in the wild.

How do have the enclosure set up? They do well with a at least two different hides in the enclosure (one up hot end and one down cool end) and some substrate so they can dig down and cover themselves. It probably will hide most of the time for the next few months and once they gradually get more used to their surroundings and start to grow a bit bigger they will venture out more and more.
