Humidity and hiding for IJ

I just recently bought a CB Irian Jaya bts from a breeder. It is currently in a 20g long as it is only 5" long but will be moved in short time to a showcase cages 60x24x24. However, I've noticed that it is constantly hiding all day and doesn't bask. It just hides in the mulch with the heat pad. Why is it doing this? Stress? Basking temps are about 105. Too Hot? My most important question is what is the proper humidity for Irian Jaya? Ive been looking and some say 70-90% or 30-40%. These are big differences. Which one is correct? They are from Indonesia so I would assume the 70-90% and 30-40% for Australian species? He is on cypress mulch.

Hello! I'll try and help you as much as I can. Hiding all day is very normal for a new, and especially a very young, BTS of any species. I didn't see much more of mine than a tail for about three or four weeks when she first arrived. They all adjust differently. However, your basking temp may be about 10 degrees too high. I'd keep the basking end at around 95-96F - that'll also encourage the little fella to come out more; part of his hiding may be because he's a bit too hot. Cypress mulch is great! The species-specific caresheet that I'll link below with some other reads suggests a humidity of about 60%. Good luck with your new baby!
