New Born Skink Flipping on its side

Postby brily.mabi98 » Fri Jun 10, 2016 7:11 pm

Hello all,

I have owned BTS for the last 2 yrs. I bought my skink in October 2014 and in December she gave me a Christmas gift 2 baby blueys. It has been great having them and I have been able to keep them healthy and communing in the same cage successfully which is a 75 gallon tank. Until I found that I had 2 girls and 1 boy. I tried to monitor them to avoid breeding, but woke up this morning to 2 new babies. One of them looks very healthy, the other keeps twisting towards its tail and flipping on its back. I know that there may be some congenital defects due to inbreeding, is this what I am looking at?

Could be some form of vestibular disease e.g. otitis interna.

Check eyes for nystagmus, i.e. eyes not able to hold a focus point but flicker from side to side or up and down.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who do not.

Thanks for the feedback, I will keep an eye on that. I have noticed, it seems to loose control and flip when it raises it's head.
