My Highland Blotchies finally popped this year.

Fair to say that this breeding season has had it's challenges.

Thought you might like to see this little character.I suppose it would be a hypermel ?

Haha probably the sweetest nature of my blueys, just didn't appreciate the photo. There are now 10 live babies, one deformed. when I get organised I'll post pic or two of them.

Gotta hand it to those skinks, always putting up with us pesky humans turning them into models for photoshoots.
10 new babies huh that sounds great, any other expected mothers or is it wrapped up for this year, also isn't this a bit later then usual for bubs to be dropping, thought most dropped around December/January.

Blotchy baby season is just starting isn't it? I thought they were born late summer to autumn, Jan-April....?

Yeh they drop earlier in Western Sydney for example because their mating season is earlier. I find they mate when average temperatures within the month get to about 23C (but on the warmer days in this period if that makes sense). So here in Central Victoria that is about September-October, but Western Sydney for example in August - September. So there is a phase shift.

Excellent Scott. Good work! Very nice batch of babies you have there. Is that from a single or multiple litters?

I think there are three litter mixed up there. They are in a shared enclosure, normally I can tell who had what but this year they were born in dribs and drabs with in the order of 1/2 of the babies either still born or slugs aargh, mostly due to extreme heat suffered here whilst I was on holidays. Even this lot weren't their normal vigorous selves but are coming good. Most were probably around 35grams at birth which is actually a bit bigger than normal, two estimated to be well over 50grams at birth.

They seem fine now. Will be looking for new homes.
