Reptile Expo

Postby blotchey » Sun Feb 28, 2016 12:19 am

Hi all.
Most of you are probably aware that the Reptile Expo is on next Saturday in Melbourne. First time for us :ohyes:
I'm taking my son & his friend (we're trying to convert everyone in Bendigo to the religion of Reptilicism)
I was wondering if there is an up to date guide online with recommended prices for lizards (esp Bluey varieties).
I know it's a long shot but I'd like to go there forearmed with at least a rough idea on prices so I don't get ripped off :heated:
Also, any tips or advice on buying at the expo from those who've been would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I've personally noticed that vendors that have just a few specimens of a wide variety of animals usually aren't the people to buy off of. The animals are usually wild caught imports that have been purchased only to be sold and generally kept in questionable conditions while they wait. However, anyone wandering around carrying an animal may or may not be bringing it in to sell it. Reptile shows are addicting and so much fun! Go and give yourself a chance to drink it all in before you bog yourself down with goodies!! xD

That doesn't apply so much to here Meeper, Australia doesn't allow the import or export of animals except for under strict conditions and generally only ever livestock, birds or fish.

I have only ever been to an expo once a lot of the Bluie's were for show only, having only a few hypers for sale, most for what was for sale was Beardies, geckos and Easterns BTS' when it came to lizards.

Thanx fer the tips Meeper

We'll certainly enjoy it. Not sure if we'll buy anything at all. I've spent quite a bit lately & the missus is getting cheesed off.(That's Aussie for 'I'll have to hide any new purchases from She Who Must Be Obeyed")
