Hi everyone! I'm Erika and I'm new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I got my skink in December and I believe he was about 5-6 months old at the time. Sully along with his brothers and sisters were listed as "locally bred baby blue tongue skinks" so I'm not really sure exactly what species he is. Maybe you have some ideas? Let me know! I would love to hear from you!

Thanks Richard, I was wondering about him being an IJ. I'm new to the hobby and there are so many variations and colors between species! And now I want so many more lol. But he is a very good boy and brings me a lot of joy

Looks Irian Jaya, but the black down the flank makes me wonder purity. Could you get pictures of parents? Could very well be pure Irian Jaya, though.

I don't have pictures of the parents. I got him at the local exotic pet store. One of my friends suggested he may be a hybrid with a northern. I don't plan on breeding him, just spoiling him

The store owner told me directly they were indeed Northern x IJs.

Good to get clarity on that.
...this is why we are so against mixing breeds, it makes identifying that much harder; had the owner not been honest about it to someone who happens to be a member here, the "mixed blood" might have been carried on unknowingly had you bred it to another IJ. I would highly suggest keeping him as a pet only, and should you sell him at some point, making sure the knew owners know he's a hybrid.
