Do you have a recommendation on Subspecies?

Hello everybody, this is my very first post!
Anyway I have everything I need to purchase a Blue Tongue and am planning to do so in the following weeks but I am just unsure about which subspecies I should get. Do they have different personalities/traits or is the only thing that separates them the different locations, body shapes, and patterns? Are there certain subspecies that are calmer than others and/or prefer handling? I am also looking to possibly breed in the future and would like to know if there is a specific subspecies that are easier to breed? Obviously I live in Australia so I can only get the Australian subspecies.

Where abouts in Aus are ya?? Cause even in Aus each state has different types that can be kept ( here in Wa we can only have shingles, centralians and westerns ;c)

I'm from vic so we tend to have blotched, easterns and northerns, with the occasional shingleback

Hardiest are blotched blueys, and my biased opinion most rewarding. Easterns are hit and miss personality wise and more prone to ailments, drying scales etc. If you're in victoria both a be kept without a licence. The others I would suggest are not as appropriate for beginners. Hope that helps.

You really can't go wrong with any of those, care and setup is very similar for all (northerns I don't know).Other factors to consider are what is available at time you are ready to acquire, what you can afford and what you prefer looks wise. Easterns are usually more available and are thus a bit cheaper, blotchies next and shinglebacks harder to get hold of and more expensive so will probably need to wait. (At least that is what it's like in my area). Starting to head into breeding/birthing season from now to the next 6 months or so.

I have a blotchy I've only had for about 7 months, have no experience with other species, these are just the factors that I considered in helping me decide. Others on here keep more than one type so might add.

Which is your fave to look at? You will probably have it for 20 odd years so you should get one you like Whatever you decide you should get from a good breeder to make sure is healthy (and legal). You are very lucky in Vic because you have two awesome breeders from this forum - Richard C and Scotts1au. Do a search of them to see their groups.
