Good cage brands

I've been looking into cage brands and the only ones I have found are Zilla critter cages and for some reason the ones In the sizes I need are scarce and extremely over priced. And every aquarium tank I look at that's 40 gallons and over are tall and not wide so I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions for me? Thank you very much!

Might seem like a dumb suggestion and I'm sure you have tried it, but you should see what craigslist has to offer in your area. I found my 40gal terrarium for my young blue tounge on craigslist for $50. Turns out she had a Tortis that out grew the tank and just needed to get it out of the house. I know the topic was on "brands" but thought maybe that might help. Good luck!

As Commanderday said have a look at Craigslist, a lot of people sell cheap enclosures on there not because anything is wrong with them but because needed a bigger one, no room for it etc and some people build them and sell them new on those kind of sites or even custom build for you.

Price. Generally when you go to something made especially for reptiles, you see a price jump.
I use Showcase Cages, probably one of the "extremely overpriced" ones you mentioned, but we couldn't be happier with them. It hurts in the savings account every time we buy one, but anytime we have to clean, or move them for any reason, we remember how amazingly worth it they are.

There are similar cages for much less though. Do a search here, or Google "reptile tanks" and check em out. Craigslist is a super good recommendation, might take a while to find the right thing, but it's a good option.

Thank you all for the recommendations I actually just found a nice 40 gallon that isn't too tall for only 90 bucks on craigslist (idk why I never thought to look) here's to hoping it isn't sold yet!

Actually a 40g is cheaper retail at petco when they have their dollar a gallon sale. If you got it complete with accessories as a one stop deal it may be worth 90 if it comes with lights, screen, accessories you need. Keep looking if you don't get that one, I got a 75G complete with cabinet stand and accessories for 50. They are always on there, due to parents buying for their kids who soon tire of the reptile, etc. Look in all sections, general, reptile related, etc. I think I got mine because it was posted in a section where no one would think to look for a reptile tank. Also got 40g's for 20 bucks apiece last year, and two came with screens!! For temporary housing you can always use one of those giant plastic storage tubs from walmart or target and modify the top to house a fixture (which I have done at a time when my skink addiction surpassed my housing capability) Good luck whatever you do, shouldn't be hard to find some cheap enclosures!

I use the Vision V422 for my older adult BTS. They are a great size, sliding front doors, for easy access. Easy to clean. A bit pricey, but I think they will last forever! Here is a link.

I had already put in an order for an enclosure from Beeger Boxes for my bearded and then I got my first bts. So the day after I got him, I called them up to order another one for him. They were all excited when I told them I'd just gotten a bts baby and they spent an hour talking to me about bts care. They've been very helpful a few times since then, incredibly nice people. The enclosures from them are beautiful pieces of furniture that I think will last me a while.

When I got my last bts on a whim, I just wanted an enclosure asap and found a used vision cage on craigslist for a good price. It's great, and in wonderful condition. But I think in a couple of months, I'll probably order another Beeger Box so all of my enclosures match and look like one stacked unit.

Both types are awesome cages, but not intended for the budget-minded. If I were to house all my animals in such, it would equal a down payment on a new truck...but yes, sometimes those vision cages come up on CL for half the price! And worthy of note cages that you don't have to reach down into will make your animals happier, as feared predators come from above. Hope you find what you're looking for!
