Help me identify my new skink+ answer my questions

Postby bienoo » Sun Jul 26, 2015 2:32 am

Hi guys, :D
I got my first BTS about three weeks ago after dreaming about getting one for years.
My Noodle is 4 years old and I adopted him from another household that was unable to take care of the pets anymore.
I've been reading up alot about BTS species and varieties, but Noodle seems to match not a single description. I'm thinking he might be a Merauke, but he doesn't have that long tail like they normally do. I also think he could be an indonesian, but his legs aren't black at all.

And here's a picture that (kinda) shows his length and pattern:

I really don't have any other pictures at the moment, but if anyone needs more to identify him, I can try to handle him a little today.
Currently, Noodle is very scared of me and will try to run away as fast as he can if I move or open the terrarium. Obviously it's the stress from moving, but the previous owners told me he was also a little wiggly already when they had him. One of my dreams is to take my BTS out (possibly in my car) someday without him freaking out and moving about the place. I'd like to know if people have experiences taming very shy and scared BTS'es that turned out to be the very, very tame later on?

The enclosure and is also temporary. I ordered aspen shavings and he's soon moving to a bigger enclosure until he is used to me. this bedding isn't that great x-x

That's about it, I think. I look forward to some replies!

I'd say a merauke and irian jaya hybrid :D

Ive not had a shyness issue with the two skinks Ive owned but they are very intelligent creatures and can learn that you are not a threat but a bringer of good things like food :). My skinks both LOVE snails and they come running when they smell them.
