Very concerned-6 month old Merauke not urinating?

Postby Snowysmom » Wed Apr 22, 2015 5:00 am

Hi guys-

Well, just noticed that along with a "lip licking" that I noticed this week it also dawned on me that I have not seen and scooped out any urate in a week or 2 and have always seen it and seen her pee regularly. She poos less over the past month but there is urate in her poop. She poos a few days with a day or 2 off and eats every other day now. She always pees right away after she has been out of her home when I put her back in and she is not but sometimes it looks like she is standing still like she is peeing but it is always dry in the spot. I do not notice any straining at all. She is acting normal besides...eating, very, very active, good natured, always on the go. Is this a transition thing or need I call the vet? She used to drink a lot as a baby, but not so much since she got her big bowl and new enclosure 2 months ago. I think I have seen her drink twice maybe. I am worried because I know I scoop urate and pee out daily to keep her habitat clean and have noticed I am not doing this any more.

Thank you.

urinating ,is probably a sign of expelling excess moisture,eg when drinking more than needed,my guess is now its mellowed off the drinking, your not seeing the squirt so bad anymore

Thank you for the response, Richard.

I actually got a gift when I got home from work last night and saw my girl drink and urinate. The substrate was due for a mist, so it was dry and think that there was a small wet area where she peed...did not look like she was straining.

Now, what I did notice is there was no urate if in fact she did pee. This may have been it all along. What does this mean?

Thanks.

It is very common that they do most of their liquid and urate expelling when they poop. And like you said, a lot of times if they just expell water then it's quite possible it's dried up without a trace after just a few minutes.
Nothing to worry about. Good of you to be so observant.

Thank you Susann for also taking the time to reply. I will keep an eye on her as always. She does have urates with she moves her bowels so this is good . Since she was so sick when she was a baby with this and that I find I am more vigilant with my observations of her. Thanks also for noticing that I care so much for my little one.

Have a great w/e.

Yeah i have noticed mine rarely just pee, they do it when they poo rare for them to do it without pooing, and as Susann said it can dry up within minutes without a trace especially if they do it on the hotter end of the enclosure.
