How long can BTS be in their enclosures for per day?

I haven't got a BTS yet but I am planning on getting one. I will probably get and enclosure atleast 4ft by 2ft (not sure how tall yet). I was wondering how long they can be in their enclosures per day because I won't be around all day so it could be in there for a good few hours. I'm worried that it would get bored and won't get enough exercise . Please give me some advice. Thanks

That enclosure will be plenty of room for you skink to live in 24/7

Reptiles are not dogs or cats or bunnies - they are low on the intellegence and trainability scale, have slow metabolisms so don't "need" or desire exercise and usually prefer to be left alone.

Handling is actually VERY stressful on them until they become habituated to you and some NEVER become tolerant of people picking them up or even walking by their cages.

Their main motivation is food, and if you supply that they may show interest in your existence but otherwise they could care less about who gives them their dinner.

If you are looking for an animal to "bond" to you and jump for joy when you get home - DONT get a reptile, more often than not they cower and hide from human contact and in some cases they learn that wiggling like crazy or biting are effective ways to get you to leave them alone

My bts climbs the glass when I cook in the kitchen, he smells whatever is being cooked. My bts ate unshelled snails and mealworms today with gusto! They are food motivated no doubt. My captive born emerald swift is very afraid of human contact. He shoos away if I remove an uneaten cricket from his enclosure. He hates it if I need to remove him to clean anyhing in his cage.
