Blue tongue sweet spot

So today I had my skink out for some hugs as usual and while stroking his head I noticed that when I stroked in a spot between his eye and ear in a circular motion he flopped and almost went into a daze. I assumed if it was bothering him he would have hissed (as he usually does) but he was closing his eyes and relaxing. Just wondeing if anyone else has found this or if its an individual thing :) I dont.know anyone else who has a skink so I've never been able to compare behaviours ^.^

I just tried and i got no reaction, though when i pat his tail he likes to curl it up in the direction its getting patted.

My girl will do this if I stroke her the way you describe between the eyes. Not all the time on que, but defiantly if she is feeling really comfortable and relaxed outside of her enclosure.

Thats nice to know :) Hes a tanimbar so he tends to be a bit hissy so its nice to see him chilled. He doesnt appreciate having his tail touched mind I have to say :P

Tanimbar babies pass out when they are stressed. Are you sure this isn't what was occuring?

He was still conscious and not completely limp just less tense than normal. Hes about 8 months old. I hope this isnt whats happening. Hes never done it before and he used to be a lot hissier but hes getting used to being handled now.

My girl who displays this behavior is Merauke, super well natured, huffy occasionally and definitely not stressed when she does this. When she is tired of me petting her she simply leaves my lap to explore elsewhere. I think its safe to assume your guy is not passing out, if this were the case he would likely display other stress behaviors, and you would be aware that he is in distress.

I haven't previously heard of this with Tanimbar babies, could it be tonic immobility as with Green Anoles?

Closing eyes and freezing do to speak can also be a sign of stress,when being held they cant go anywhere,and some just do that till whats scaring them has hopefully nicked off before moving off

Its not uncommon for many people to interprate what there animals behaviour is telling them,its iften way off what is assumed
