mouth rot?

Hi again,

My guy has had a slightly drooping mouth since I've had him (around 6 weeks now). I've read about mouth rot, I'm wondering if that's what he has? His mouth isn't sore as far as I can see, just a little flaky [/URL]

I actually have a juvenile Merauke with what looks like an extremely similar "bump". Took him to the vet to make sure it's not an absess, which the vet did not think it was; vet thinks it's part of my never ending struggle with finding the optimal humidity for each skink. I feel a bit ambivalent about that verdict, have never had a skink develop anything like this before, but I figured as long as it doesn't seem to be getting worse/bigger or turning red/inflamed.
With mouth rot, if I understand correctly, the inside of the mouth would display symptoms, which mine does not.
Take him to a vet if you are nervous about it, nothing wrong with wanting to be safe, otherwise, keep a close eye on it, document it to make sure it doesn't get bigger/worse or turn any color other than what it is now (and compare to the inside and outside colors of the opposite side).

Thank you Susann It hasn't changed or got any worse since he's been here, and although he hasn't eaten all that much in the past few days he's usually a pig. I'll definitely keep an eye, I don't have much of an idea of his history so it's possible he's always looked this way.

I agree with Susann, from the pics it doesn't appear to be mouth rot (infectious stomatitis).
