Creative enclosures

I have lady near my place that makes really nice tank backgrounds and hides. But I am wanting to find a way to utilize the hight with different levels. She can make what ever I show her I just don't know what to do. I know skinks are not great climbers and I want to keep it safe for him. So I am wonder if there are any sites or forum threads that have pictures of creative ways people have done up their a BT skink enclosures especially to utilize the hight of the tanks for creating ramps and basking spots.

I have tried googling and scanning this site. But have not been able to find much yet. Though I will keep looking.

Ya I have looked allot on goolgle.
Problem is I want to make sure it is BT friendly as almost all of them are ment for lizards that can climb. I want to see what others have done specifically for their skinks. As most enclosures have so much wasted space in hight. I want to find a way to utilize that space.

My wife has made me a fantastic series of cargo nets my northern traverses with ease. We use thick twine on the sides, thread it with fishing line (not too thin or it can cut) and use screen mesh as a the fabric. The little holes in the mesh allow them to grab on with their claws and pull themselves around. My guy can easily hoist himself up something like a 70 degree incline. This has allowed us to make a multi tier enclosure with food on top. It also gives my bluey much needed exercise!

In the future we plan to expand his netting to make a ".5 tier" so he'll be able to have a netted and enclosed warm hide half way up his enclosure. The biggest issue is he'll fling himself down when hes lazy, so either positioning the net well so its more of a slide down or making side netting like you see in safety netting for trampolines is important.

yes would love to see pics and see people other pics... I have found most terrariums to be very generic looking. Its really hard to find nice modern cool looking enclosures these days. Very frustrating. You want the terrarium to be a nice piece of furniture in the home... not an eye sore.

I am meeting with the background designer this weekend and I have started to gather some ideas. I am thinking of something like the picture attached as this is one of her past projects. I would have to make it have gradual slopes for it to climb up to the different basking spots.

It will also have a space around the entire bottom for him to use as a hide area.

What are your thoughts, any concerns anyone has with this. Or suggestions?

That would be an awfully big drop for a solid 2 pound adult skink.

They really arent but for climbing and I don't think I'd have anything higher than 6 inches in a BTS enclosure but I am very new to skinks and maybe they are tougher than I think

Yeah they could have a little tumble and hurt themselves, plus then it becomes tricky with lighting and getting the right temperatures because there is multiple levels to be aware off so it might be to hot or bright at the higher ones and burn them or hurt there eyes, or they are more likely to poke their head up and accidentally touch the bulbs so you would need those little cage things around them.

Ya I think I will go with this look but keep all the levels real low. Just high enough that he can crawl under and use as a hide or climb on top to bask. No high ones, as the last thing I would ever do is want to endanger one of my animals.
