Handling question to give medications

Hello guys-

My little 3 1/2 month old Merauke, Snowy is under vets care for a scale on her low cheek that was injured or a bacteria got under it. She is on papertowels and oral Baytril and Chlorohexadine on the cheeck per my vet. She is well otherwise. My issue and question is how do you get your BTS out for medical care,etc. when they are not out of the hide? I get home from work at 5:00 and want to coax her out as soon as I can because don't want her eating too late so she can digest. I USUALLY have success getting her out for meds by baiting her with a mealworm or roach. Last night and a couple other times I have had to take her out of her hide and it upsets her, so how is another way to get her out of the hide???? She is great about getting out when she is basking, but in the late afternoon sometimes she does not come out at all . This is only an issue now and when meds. NEED to be given and are on a time schedule.

I would just lift the hide and take her out...that's the only way I ever get to see mine, with the exception of weekends.
I leave at 645 AM and sometimes not home till after 5, and they are all hiding at those times! Wouldn't see them all week if I did not lift their hides and check on them. My Northern is the exact opposite, always looking around for treats and
expecting something new to materialize in her cage when I get home....nosy girl! And gets up with me in the morning, too!

Ha, you're on the same schedule as me and usually I always see her in the mornings and on the weekends. I see her little nose coming out of the hide in the dark before the lights go on all the time in the early morning around 5:30, lol. I really hate taking her out of the hide, wish ther was another way, but the meds must be done. Thanks.

We do what's best for our lizards and in this case that is removing them from their hides when it's time for treatments. I wouldn't feel bad about it at all.
