I've had a search but none of the posts i found seemed to fit.
We have rescued a blue tongue after my cat got it. We have been caring for the wound and it is healing nicely.
He/she is getting more active again and is eating and dining well.
My concern is that he/she doesn't seem to have use of its back legs.
we were planning on letting it go further down the reserve once it got better but what happens if it cant use its back legs?

It will get picked off by a predator, die from exposure or starve
The paralysis could be permanent or temporary and due to inflammation.
Is there an animal rehabilitator or veterinarian you could give the skink to?
They could give it drugs to reduce swelling or humanely euthanize him

Good to read about someone taking the effort for a bluey. It might need more time, sometimes pain can stop them using their legs which may ease in time. It's fate might depend on the environment a bit. Probably not an issue in captivity but it s hard to say how it would go in the wild. A vet would probably euthanise it. In nsw you can apply to keep it.
If you wait, all that happens is that you get older. M. Andretti

It's doing really well despite the lack of mobility in the back legs. It's eating and drinking and moving around catching crikets.
i don't have a wildlife person anywhere near by and my vet will just put it down.
Does anyone know if I can apply to keep it in victoria if the legs don't get better?
i really can't bare the thought of putting it down when it's obviously doing well despite this issue.
