New Blue Not Eating?

Postby kaymay528 » Sun Feb 01, 2015 9:53 pm

Hi everyone, I'm Kelly. I'm a new blue owner and I'm just so so in love. I know I just got him... He's a juvenile.. He hasn't eaten yet! Maybe I'm overreacting who knows but any opinions?

He will soon be in a 50 gal, he's on repti bark bedding (breeder recommended), has reptisun UV and a basking light. The breeder has him on pedigree as the main food. I got to see the mom of this baby and she was huge, beautiful, and healthy. So I trusted his word. I've done some research. Without being negative towards me, does anyone have any info I should know? I'm up for new things for the little guy. I hope he eats soon. He's beautiful!!!

If anyone can see the pic this is very temporary until I get home from school.

He might not eat for a few days or a week or so until he gets settled into his new home and surroundings, just put the food in and if he doesn't eat it no worries when he is hungry or wants to eat he will, they can go for weeks without eating so he won't die from lack of food for not eating a few days, also try different foods because some of them are a bit picky or they have favourite foods, i have found all the ones i've come across have loved a bit of banana, egg or snail.

What i did when mine wouldn't eat when i first got him, i enticed him with a snail at he instantly went to town on it.

I get mine from my friends garden, if you do get them from a garden or something make sure pesticides and such are not used and even then don't feed the snails to the bluie right away, put them in a container and feed them and keep an eye on them for a few days, if they die theres a high chance they found some pesticide and ate it from a neighbor.

As for buying them, im not sure where you would them in the states maybe somebody else here that lives there could help with that one.

I collect garden snails throughout the summer and put some in the fridge for winter feeding. I also feed my skink aquarium snails - mostly ramshorns and pearl pond snails
