Changed Substrate and Now he's Wall Climbing

Just hoping for some thoughts on this. I recently switched off aspen back onto a combination of coco husk and peat moss and now my guy has started scratching and climbing the walls. He didn't do this when I made the first switch from the coco husk/peat moss to the aspen but has decided to start now that we've switched back? The depth of the cocohusk/peat moss is exactly the same as it was when I had him on Aspen. I keep adding more and more peat moss to make it deeper but we are at almost 5 inches now and it seems ridiculous to keep adding more and more. Any thoughts on how to encourage him to just dig in the monstrous amount of substrate he currently has? Tank dimensions have not changed, nor has feeding, temps or any of his decorations.

He's probably a bit insecure with the smell and feel of his home changing, and may be wanting out to go find the place he's used to.
It's totally normal for skinks to do this from time to time, especially when things in the tank change or during mating time. If they are constantly climbing and clawing to get out may indicate a need for more/better/different hides.
