Best way to transport my new young skink to the vet.

Hi there-

Monday is Snowy's frst vet visit. She is a few months old and on Monday I will have had her for 2 weeks. I am just bringing her for a wellness visit to see that she is in good shape, no parasites, etc. I would like to know what would be the most comfortable way to transport my new girl and to make sure she doesn't get a chill or get to stressed. Thank goodness the vet is only 15 minutes away.

I'm in a cold climate this time of year too, and I use a snake bag (cloth sack or pillowcase type thing) and go out and warm up my truck first, then I bring out inside my jacket. A bit harder with larger critters but this should work for you. They seem to relax and just go to sleep inside the warm sack, rather than freaking out in a box. For larger animals I use a pet carrier with a blanket inside and another one wrapped around. Good luck at your vet, hope your baby has a shining report!

I would warm up my vehicle first, use a Tupperware or plastic storage box, pack it with towels/blankets and if you feel it would be necessary you could use a heat disc or something for some added warmth. Just make sure air can get into your box, of course.

Thanks guys. I will use those heat packs that I put in my boots when I hike and wrap them up tight at the bottom of towels, etc. I think those would work?

I would think those would work. Just make sure your little guy has some place he can go in the box if he is too hot sitting on the heat pads.

I will Haley. I may put a bag in a box. Bag will have towels and heat will be in the box or even stuck to botton of box and hot water bottle in box and heat will be off to 1 side of however I take her. Thank you for your help. I need it. So nervous about the vet visit.
