Bought myself an eastern.

Postby Jbolar » Thu Oct 16, 2014 8:07 am

Bought as a female, but that is always questionable as you all know with skinks, after talking with austin (who told me to buy it) and david (ophidiophile) they both think it may have com from Ray some time ago, animal is estimated at about 4 years old, but could be slightly older, a bit chubby and the nails are somewhat long but other than that a really mellow skink.

Shes a pretty one. And must be a girl, she's wearing purple eye shadow. :P

Awesome find!

I saw her when she was advertised; absolutely cracking deal! She's lovely. :)

Showing my ignorance here; how come she doesn't have eyebands? Is that not a trait in all Easterns?

Teacup I'm sure one of the Aussie members here can can explain this better but to answer your question all easterns don't have eyebands only the ones found in the southern eastern ranges of Australia from New South Whales south. Further north the easterns loose their eyebands for reasons that are not entirely known.

Thank you! Good to know. :) I have not read much at all about all the different Aussie BTS. This is very interesting! I really need to pick up the 'bluey bible' one of these days.

as others have explained, it's a locality thing... and from what i understand this is just an eastern that may not have eye bands... Ray from Thunderbay may be able to give some insight as i understand he has a bit of experience into them...
