I know this has been asked in the past, but i am having a hard time finding a definitive answer. I just got my baby boy last week from Koen and couldn't be happier. I named him Koba. He is about 3 months old, born in July i believe.
i'm a little unsure about how Koba has been acting since i got him. He has been hiding (more like sleeping) a lot and doesn't seem to move unless I try to hold him. ill hold him for maybe a minute or two just to see if he is okay and get him used to me holding him. He gets a little huffy and looks like he is breathing a little heavy when i pick him up, but he has never tried to bite me and has never hissed at me. when i hold him his little blue tongue starts licking and checking things out, but after 30 secs or so he kinda squirms and wont stay still. I was able to feed him a little banana treat out of my hands and he readily accepted it, but otherwise he just seems to want to get away.
When i put him back he kinda just sits for a few minutes, than sometimes he will wander around and look at things in his cage, maybe eat a little and drink some water. but than he inevitably return to his little cave and digs unders the aspen to go back to hiding/sleeping.
I know it is normal for them to need adjustment time, but it seems odd to me that he doesn't seem interested in exploring at all. It is very possible that he does move around alot when im not home, i work 9 to 5, but i didn't see much of him when i was around on saturday and sunday. Saturday and Sunday i left him completely alone to see if it would make a difference. He did pop out for about 30 mins to eat and drink but than he went right back to hiding/sleeping. I noticed that he seems to eat about every other day, same with pooping, but i rarely actually see him eat or poop. on the occasions i have seen him eat he eats a good portion of food about a tablespoon.

His temps are mid to low 80s in the cool end and 100 to 105 in the basking area. He hides/sleeps under the basking rock/cave almost all the time. when i pick him up he always feels pretty warm.
Is this just signs of brumation? Im in chicago so it seems a little early to me for him to be doing that but getting close to it. Is it just him getting used to his new home? Do babies just sleep a lot? Am i just being a nervous daddy
?Any insight would be great.
