Pneumonia

Postby Lauriek » Wed Sep 24, 2014 10:59 pm

My beloved shingle Solomon has 'mild' pneumonia, according to the vet. How did he get it? He may not have brumated properly. He did wake up in the middle of winter and came out for a look. He may have got cold; he may not have digested some food properly - they do need heat for this. He may have got stressed because of having 3 lizards in the viv, not just the other shingle. He has beed given a vitamin injection & antibiotics. He's not eating much but wanted to get out so the vet is hopeful. Hopefully I will bring him home tomorrow.

Sorry to see Solomon has been so unwell Laurie. I know from experience with parrots that the most likely cause of R.I.'s is being caught in a draft. Hope he is soon on the mend.

His early activity may have been a sign of carrying something into brumation to,they do a great job of hiding things sometimes, main thing is hes getting the teeatment he needs, also explains why it doesnt seem to have affected his side kick, nor him in previous winters

Keep us posted on his progress
