Do reptiles really can't see the red light?

Well,I ask because I was keeping a gargoyle gecko,and one time i was checking the tank with temp gun,which have a red laser pointer,and he try to chase and bite the red point,kind like what cat will do,although he never do it again after he find out that it's not food...
And that make me think:how the reptiles see the red light?Cause people use red bulb for night time heat source,and it seems ok,but how can i explain the laser chasing gecko?

Lasers are a concentrated point of light and are a lot stronger then regular lights. So this could be why, otherwise I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else knows more.

i believe most lizards are able to see red lights. i know bearded dragons can, and i believe crested geckos can as well (which would mean gargoyles can too probably since they are closely related). i would imagine skinks can probably see the red light too. i have heard that some snakes, such as ball pythons, cannot see red light. but they have much different eye structures than most lizards.

Diurnal lizards can see red very well, most nocturnal ones have lost some of their red sensitive cones and no longer see the color as well.

It was more likely the movement that attracted your skink
