Possible Mouth Rot on my Baby?

I will grab pictures as soon as I can.
A scale on the side of his mouth looks swollen and if I open the side of his mouth a bit I can see something that resembles a yellow ball. He seems to be e/d fine and seems to be acting normal and active.
I will be taking him to work as one of my veterinarians said she would take a look at him, but she does not deal with reptiles very often. There is a clinic that may deal with reptiles here, but not as a specialty.
I know it will be hard to say until I can get pictures but I am very worried.

If you could get a picture in better lighting it might help too. The one you posted is kind of dark.

I will certainly try! It was the only quick picture I could get at the moment. Hopefully I will have one later tonight.

Doesn't look like mouth rot to me. Sometimes scales around the mouth have issues shedding and come out looking weird.

I agree with Kurt. Mouth rot looks more red and inflamed. What have you fed him/her recently?

Sometimes a skink will bite something a that's hard (or just bite down wrong on something) and dent the mouth scales a bit. That's what this looks like to me. It usually resolves itself over a few sheds, but food & dirt can become stuck in the dip, so keep an eye on it to make sure it stays clean and doesn't start looking red.

I talked with my veterinarian at work and she suggested that it could be retained shed. I took a Q-tip soaked in water and rubbed the side of his face and ta-da! The shed came off!

I guess I will have to try and up the humidity or get him a shed box. I did bath him during his last shed but that piece was very stubborn. Thanks for the help everyone!
